Started the month off simply – I had my breakfast outside with Chase and the birds.
There were blackbirds and sparrows foraging away in the hedge and the starlings making their usual cacophony from the roof top. (The babies have fledged. There are four million of them and they are very loud. I love them.)
I also ‘found’ a pink flower, which was a First Day challenge set by the Wildlife Trusts. You can see it in both those photos – I didn’t have to look very hard!
But I did go look at it closer because I’m not much of a rose person but I do very much love this one and I thought I’d accidentally killed it last year so I’m happy to see it flourishing again this year under my somewhat haphazard attempts to save it.
So pretty!
‘The best rose-bush, after all, is not that which has the fewest thorns, but that which bears the finest roses.’
Henry Van Dyke
