…is this thing on?

So, it’s been a while, huh?

*brushes dust off keyboard*

I guess life just sort of got in the way of me sitting down in this little corner of the internet for a bit. But it’s been on my mind for the last month or so, and being stuck in my bedroom waiting for the dreaded CV19 to go away and leave me alone means I ran out of excuses to avoid picking up my laptop and write the ever-awkward post that is the ‘first’ in a while.

I can’t remember what my first ever blog post on here was, but I bet it was awful. But as ever, you have to start somewhere, and so I did.

It is a long time since I started Carole Finds Her Wings, but I still love it here, and still love the little stroke of genius that is the title. I must have spent hours coming up with a blog name.

Back then, I was thinking of it being some sort of book/writing/author blog. I wasn’t long out of university and Liberty and I had been to a writing convention together and were feeling inspired and hopeful for a future full of words.

It didn’t take all that long for Carole Finds Her Wings to start being a parenting blog of sorts, with the odd bit of bookishness thrown in, which really shouldn’t have been much of a surprise given that I had one very small Small, and another one soon to be on the way.

Then the Smalls grew, and I started having more of a ‘me’ outside of being Mummy again, and things got less parent-y and more… random.

But through all of that – the changing of dreams, the raising of Smalls, the turning of the world – I’m still finding my wings and writing my way through the process.

So even when this little space goes quiet, know it is never forgotten and that I will be back. Because I love it, and in a peculiar little way, I need it.
