What I Cooked Wednesday #5

  1. Caius enjoyed the soup so much he ate all the leftovers. (And sulked about it because he wanted to complain but couldn’t because he liked it.)
  2. I think I am developing a gnocchi addiction.
  3. The burgers were epic and the burger sauce in the recipe was really good and I am definitely making it every time I make burgers forever and ever.

This Week’s Planned Meals:

Pizza – Eaten, in my case, sheepishly in a Zoom meeting after Cubs finished, because I couldn’t wait until after otherwise I might just have died of starvation in the meeting instead. (It was at least a Cub-related meeting and my fellow Drayton Cub leaders were also eating their dinner during it, too. And we were all late together because our Cub meeting overlapped the other meeting.)

Honey Mustard Chicken Thighs with Chive & Pea Mash (Sorted Sidekick App) I actually had to buy a new jar of Dijon mustard this week because I finished the last one making Sorted recipes… I’m pretty sure that last one had been in the back of the fridge for about two years after I used two teaspoons in a recipe once. I’ve since finished it over the space of two months because apparently I have been missing out on using it in my cooking – I don’t much like it as a condiment but it’s good as part of a bigger flavour profile.

Sausage Casserole with Dippy Yorkshires (Sorted Sidekick App) – Debating making giant Yorkies and serving the casserole in them this time.

Pasta Bake Winter favourite coming out to play today. I love the convenience of pasta bakes, and also love to eat them. Win win!

Sausage & Spinach Baked Rice (Sorted Sidekick App) – Rice is a good one for filling up hungry Not-So-Smalls, but I sometimes struggle to make it tasty. This recipe involves garam masala and fresh ginger so hopefully it will fix that issue!

One Pan Cheat’s Cottage Pie (Sorted Sidekick App) – You didn’t think I was going to go a whole week without a recipe involving gnocchi did you?! I made this one back when I first got the Sidekick app and I am looking forward to having it again. (It uses gnocchi instead of mash on the top of the pie to make it quicker.)

Chicken Kyiv Style Orzo (Sorted Sidekick App) – Orzo is weird. Looks like rice, is actually pasta. Fun to cook with though!
