What I Cooked Wednesday #8

Bit of an all over that place week last week – I swapped one dish out because everyone fancied cheesy pasta instead and not all dishes were a success.

The roasted lettuce divided opinion, but I did feel very cheffy doing it (because really, who roasts lettuce?!) and the Saag Paneer thing was… very green.

I have not enhanced that photo at all, it really was the greenest thing that ever did green. The substitute cheese did not work though – it melted instead of staying as grilled cubes and gave the whole thing a not particularly pleasant texture. Tasted okay though.

My favourite part was where Tori came in the kitchen as I was cooking and was very startled because ‘it’s so green but it smells orange.’

This Week’s Planned Meals:

Pizza – Monday normality returns this week. As does Squbs. We are doing belated Pancake day with the Squirrels and the Cubs have a Lego competition this week. Fun times.

Potato, Smoky Sausage & Egg Hash (Sorted Sidekick App) – I have somehow ended up with a lot of eggs (forgot to check before I went shopping and bought more when I didn’t need to) so the plan is to use a few up with this meal!

Chorizo & Chery Tomato Pasta (Sorted Sidekick App) – This is the one that got bumped in favour of cheese pasta. Try again this week!

Chicken & Miso Gravy Parmentier Poutine (Sorted Sidekick App) – Aka ‘posh chips & gravy with cheese’.

Cheat’s French Onion Soup (Sorted Sidekick App) – Facing the soup wrath again. But I love onion soup, and so does Tori, so that’s approval from half the household before I start.

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Chicken & Rice (Pinch Of Nom: Comfort Food) – This one is orange. I wonder what colour Tori will think it smells of…

Chilli Con Carne Nachos No recipe for this one, I just make it up every time. Basically just chilli cooked and then loaded on top of nachos, smothered in cheese, and grilled off to a cheesy melty mountain of yum. Served with sour cream and hot sauce.

The meal planning/cooking fatigue is hitting a bit this week. I’m not feeling the urge to get in the kitchen quite so strongly, but hopefully the slightly less adventurous picks for this week will get me back on track. Comfort food always makes me remember that I do actually like food, and cooking.
