Another week is here, so let’s go find some new music at the hands of terrible colour prompts!
Next up on the chart is: Kelly, Rust, Crimson, Trombone, and Denim.
Trombone?! Since when was that a colour??

Because Of You by Kelly Clarkson
As soon as I saw this prompt I knew I was going to choose this song. It’s my favourite Kelly Clarkson song , even if there was a period of my life where I couldn’t listen to/sing it without crying because, well, it was a bit on the nose. I have always loved it though, and now I just enjoy it for the bittersweet banger that it is.
Diamonds & Rust by Joan Baez
Well, I never realised this was written about Bob Dylan but now I know it makes a lot of sense.
I also just discovered that Judas Priest of all people made a cover version of it. So go look that one up, too, because it’s surprisingly good.
King In Crimson by Bruce Dickinson
I don’t know what it is about Bruce’s voice, but it makes my tummy do wibbly things. This is from one of his solo albums, rather than an Iron Maiden track, but it is still gloriously riffy heavy metal.
Sad Trombone by Sting & Shaggy
How did I not know that Sting and Shaggy worked together?!?!?! (And why does it work?!)
Denim & Rhinestones by Carrie Underwood
This one makes me think about my favourite jeans when I was about 17 – they were dark denim and had ‘LUSCIOUS’ across the back in silver rhinestones.
Man I loved those ridiculous things.
Teenagers are ridiculous.
Ahem. Anyway, did I miss something more obvious for any of those prompts? And have you ever heard ‘trombone’ being used as a shade of yellow before??
