CFHW Colour Chart 2024

Is it just me, or did Autumn arrive this week? *shivers*

I’m still refusing to turn the heating on, but I did do the washing up the other afternoon rather than using the dishwasher just as an excuse to put my hands in hot water and warm up.

Next up on the colour chart we have: Ochre, Indian, Tuscany, Air Force, and Umber.

Well I have an idea for the first one… that’s a start I suppose.

Here we go!

(chart of colour/shade names from grammarvocab.com)

Joseph’s Coat from Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

I knew knowing the lyrics to this entire musical backwards, forwards, and sideways would come in useful one day!

Only song I know with the word ‘ochre’ in off the top of my head, that’s for sure.

I miss Richard Attenborough. That family really won the voice lottery, didn’t they? (Donny is adorable too, of course, but he’s just not Jason or… whoever it was in my sister’s school production that we had the VHS of and is the reason I know it all so well.)

Indian Summer by Jai Wolf

The video for this is just beautiful. And the music isn’t bad either.

Tuscany by Anja Kotar

Lockdown brought so many random blessings, like this cute little song/video combo that perfectly fit the silly colour prompt. It’s even a very yellow video, which matches the swatch.

Aces High by Iron Maiden

One of my favourite Maiden tracks, this one is written from the viewpoint of a British RAF pilot fighting in the Battle of Britain, which fits the prompt ‘Air Force’ perfectly to me.

Side note – if you have never read Bruce Dickinson’s autobiography What Does This Button Do? then I highly recommend it, even if you’re not a huge Maiden fan. He is a very interesting bloke. (And that’s coming from me, who hates Autobiographies most of the time.)

Golden Brown by The Stranglers

Even the internet couldn’t help me with ‘Umber’ – so I decided to go with a more generic song about a rich shade of brown, which is what Umber is in my head.

I saw the Stranglers live once. It was absolutely pouring with rain and there were about 30 of us left standing out in it while they played – everyone else bailed.

Do you know a song about Umber???
