Morning All!
I finished my audiobook (excellent, highly recommend it if you read The Girl With All The Gifts – and if you didn’t, then read that one first, then pick up The Boy On The Bridge) and then started a new one (We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler) and other than that have pretty much only listened to McFly all week, aside from yesterday afternoon/evening when I listened to some live music at a charity beer festival.
So today’s tracks are going to consist of another McFly tune, and then two random ones that the bands covered on Saturday.
Where Did All The Guitars Go by McFly
‘This is where the guitars go,
It’s where they always belong.
This is where the guitars go,
Now everyone play along.
They’ll always be there when no one else cares,
It’s how we cope with the pain.
Don’t you know that rock and roll is good for the soul?’
This is from McFly’s most recent album and I think it sums up why my brain has latched on to them over the last week or so – teenage McFly were ace, but I think I love grown up McFly even more. I dunno, they are just a safe space for my head and my heart, and when I’m needing a bit of holding up they are one of the places my brain goes to.
Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day
I love this song, and also I love the Mercury Monterey in the video. *hearteyes*
My emo heart is still a sucker for a guy in eyeliner. And guitars. And just pop punk/emo rock in general really.
Not a phase.
Turns out it was never a phase, it was just me finding my *ahem* happy place.
Another Brick In The Wall, Part Two by Pink Floyd
Such a classic. I don’t even know what genre Pink Floyd are – rock?
