Tonight I am a proud Scrat.
Our Squirrel Scouts took on the challenge of walking 13 laps of our Town Park together. Raising sponsorship money to go on a trip to a local Climbing Hut and have a go at bouldering.
The distance covered was about 2.5 miles – which is quite a long way for little legs! (They are all aged between 4 and 6.)
They donned their hi-vis jackets, and off we all went – at the end of each lap they got either a sweet (energy boost!) or a glow stick bracelet (enthusiasm boost!) to keep them going.
There were a few tears, but mostly lots of laughing and chatting and everyone worked together to keep their spirits up, even when they were getting tired.
Their parents and a few siblings joined us as well, and it was nice for everyone to join in and share the challenge – and the rain stayed away which made it even better.
Hopefully they all enjoyed themselves and will sleep well tonight!
They all did brilliantly with their fundraising too – so we are planning more adventures in the future. They all seem to have set their hearts on going on a boat, so that’s the next challenge for us leaders to research!
Of course, our group mascot Squiggle McBushy-Tail was there for the whole adventure. He never misses the chance to go somewhere fun and try something new – he’s even met our local MP!!
Only one thing left to say really… *puts Duggee voice on* Well done, Squirrels! Ah-Woof!
