Yo! Taking a break from Squirrel Scout prep to do the next batch of the Colour Chart – the end of the year is fast approaching and we aren’t nearly at the end of the chart yet!
Okay where were we up to? Ah yes, today we are finding tunes for… Maroon, Flaxen, Syrup, Brick, African, Rhino, and Mint.*
Going for a bumper edition today. Excited to see what the internet throws at us for Rhino, that’s for sure!

Payphone by Maroon 5 (ft. Wiz Khalifa)
I love this song. I quite like Maroon 5 in general but I think this is my favourite track.
Nice easy start where I knew what I was going to pick straight away… now on to the rest!
The Girl With The Flaxen Hair by Claude Debussy, played on the harp by Emmanuel Ceysson
I do enjoy how this chart has us bouncing from one musical genre to the other in desperation to find links to the colours.
Love & Maple Syrup by Gordon Lightfoot
Please trust me when I say I listened to a lot of drivel before I found this song about syrup. That is ten minutes of life I am never getting back…
Brick By Boring Brick by Paramore
Oh good, another easy one to make up for the last one! A quick Paramore fix before I go on a hunt for the last few tracks.
Africa by Toto
Yeah okay, this was easy too, let’s be honest.
Now for that Rhino in the room…
Rhino Skin by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Well, I wasn’t expecting that prompt to come up with a song by someone I actually knew, but here we are.
One Mint Julep by Ray Charles
Okay, I looked it up, and a mint Julep is a sweet flavoured drink made from sugar syrup and often containing either alcohol or medication. So this is a song about grown-up Calpol. Now you know.
*The eagle-eyed among you will notice that I missed a colour out on the chart… but that’s because around this point the chart starts repeating itself every now and then. We have already had a song for Steel in a previous chart edition.
