I cannot tell you how happy I was to be jumping back into this ridiculous series. You’d think by book 9 the novelty would have worn off, but it really hasn’t.
The Blurb:
A black-listed bounty hunter in hiding, a bizarre alien buckaroo, and some rather frantic forced proximity…
I’ve spent the last eight years chasing scumbags to the ends of the universe in my job as a bounty hunter. Until the day there’s suddenly a new bounty on my head. But the bounty is fake. I’ve been framed. And now my entire life is falling apart.
I try to hide out on an isolated planet with a no-landing order, only to get tangled up with the strangest man I’ve ever met. His name is Xennet. And if I want to survive on this planet, it looks like I’ll need to rely on him.
Except it turns out Xennet is precisely the same sort of person I’ve devoted my life to putting behind bars – a murderer.
And worse than that?
I’m developing feelings for this shuldu-riding, cowboy-hat-wearing, knife-obsessed convict.
I can’t stay with him. There’s only so long I can hide from this planet’s wardens and avoid capture.
And there’s only so long until Xennet marries someone else.
Because his promised human bride is coming.
And she’s coming soon.
I think this might actually have been my favourite one yet – Xennet was funny, kind, honest, earnest, and endlessly sweet as the love interest.
Honestly, this was just an endearing and sweet little love story with a touch of spice. I was left all warm and fuzzy inside just from the honest, gentle adoration between the main characters, and I laughed out loud multiple times at the communication hiccups caused by inter-species translation confusion.
Xennet announcing that he was going to be the best ‘chair’ for his future bride because he wanted to be solid and supportive? Cutest. Thing. Ever.
Seriously, if there were more Xennets in the universe, life would be a better place.
I unashamedly gave this a full 5 star rating because I am a sucker for these books, they bring sunshine to my life even though they are ridiculous alien cowboy stories. I am eagerly awaiting book 10.
At 288 pages, Bound By The Alien Buckaroo was the perfect book to check off ‘Under 300 Pages’ on my Bingo Card.
I also read Crux by Kate Rudolph, which was a short sci-fi dragon-shifter romance.
I wasn’t overly enamoured by it – the romance felt forced, the titular romantic interest was horrible, the ending was incredibly abrupt, and the whole thing was littered with spelling and grammar mistakes which took me out of the story entirely. I was not inspired to pick up the rest of the series, but it did at least tick ‘Single Word Title’ off my Book Bingo card.
