Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.
This week I’m taking my teaser from the first book on my September Spectacular Reading Challenge list: The Reduced History Of Dogs by Chas Newkey-Burden and Tony Husband. This book is a bit different to my usual choice of reading matter as it is non-fiction however it is a brilliantly entertaining read on one of my favourite subjects.
Some might say that Charles was a little irresponsible paying so much attention to his dogs, compared to all the important stuff like taxes, foreign policy, the Great Fire of London and the great plague. But he was known as the “merry monarch” – which shows that he probably got the balance just about right.

Merry Monarch…that’s a nice term.
