Lessons In Life #11

Lesson 11

Make peace with your past so it wont screw up the present.

I have done my very best with this one. There have been a few things in my past that could have ruined my present if I had let them but I have done my best to leave them where they belong – behind me. Easier said than done with some and it was only quite recently that I did as advised and ‘made peace’ with something instead of just pushing it aside.

I also forgave myself a few things that I had been hanging onto that had been haunting me and distracting me from what is important. Everyone makes mistakes, I need to learn from mine, not just cling on to the guilt.

This is a lesson that I’m going to keep on learning, keep on having to remember.

Sometimes you have to rely on other people before you can fully make peace, sometimes things will always be a bit wonky, a bit rocky, but if you find your own sort of peace then you can focus on the present and the future.

As Rafiki so wisely says in The Lion King – ‘The past can hurt, but the way I see it you can either run from it or learn from it.’ – I’m trying to follow in Simba’s pawprints and learn.
