Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
Doing something different on a ‘special’ occasion is nice, but sometimes doing something special on a perfectly normal boring day is even better. It is somehow more magical than any planned birthday treat or anniversary because you just took that day, that little moment, and said ‘Today’s the best day ever’ and made it so.
It doesn’t take much to make a normal day special – an impulse picnic, your favourite PJs and a film, an impromptu lunch with a friend, a night away ‘just because’ – you don’t need the calendar to tell you a day is a good one.
