Opening Line(s):

Long ago in a place called Nazareth there lived a girl called Mary. She was engaged to be married to a carpenter called Joseph, and she would daydream about their wedding as she went about her chores.

My Review: This is a positively delightful collection of stories and songs for the Christmas season – featuring the classic stories of The Nutcracker, The Snow Queen, The Night Before Christmas and The First Christmas along with another couple of stories and several traditional Christmas songs and carols, all beautifully illustrated and gathered together in a gorgeous hardback volume.

None of the stories are too long, making them just right for bedtime and the illustrations give you plenty to talk about as you read.

Tori particularly liked reading the songs and carols to herself – even when she didn’t know the tunes to sing them, she liked reading them as poems and studying the pictures.

This would make a great addition to any bookshelf and would be a wonderful gift at Christmas time. I have enjoyed sharing it with my children this season and look forward to getting it out again next year, too.

My Rating: 5/5*
