December 10th

The almighty bang as the kettle exploded made Lola fall off her chair and James cover his head as if he was expecting shrapnel.

“What on earth…?!” Mum leaped back from the counter, then she grabbed a tea towel and threw it over the plug socket which, James realised with alarm, appeared to be on fire.

Damien the elf was sat nearby. Definitely grinning.
