Who Is Carole?

Hello I’m Carole!

Welcome to my random corner of the internet.

Over the years, Carole Finds Her Wings has amalgamated from a straight Book Blog to a Book-and-Parenting Blog to a Book-and-Whatever-Carole-Feels-Like Blog. Turns out that the last option is my favourite and it covers everything from book reviews to recipes via family escapades and craft projects!

I enjoy reading almost anything but I tend to lean towards science fiction, horror, fantasy and YA at the moment.

My family consists of myself, my partner in crime Caius, our kids T and A (collectively known now as the Not-So-Smalls). Plus Amber Cat & Chase the Rescue Rottweiler.

I vaguely try and keep fit but more often than not reading and cake wins that battle…

Thanks for dropping by CFHW & hope to see you again.

Disclaimer: Carole Finds Her Wings features Amazon Affiliate links on some pages so I may get some commission if you buy anything from clicking off my blog. This doesn’t affect the cost to you at all.

  1. Saw your post on WoS. The best advice I can give you is to read Aristotle’s Poetics and take it to heart. Robert McKee expands on the ideas in his book Story, but everything you need is in Poetics. Unless you’re the next Jo Rowling, you’ll need to sell short stories to get started. As for resources, a copy of the Writers & Artists Yearbook is invaluable, and http://bookoven.com/ may be good for feedback and keeping you going. Good luck! And remember … bad writers love everything they write, great writers hate everything they write but are compelled to keep writing by an irrational need to write.

  2. I really need to get a new copy of the W&A Handbook, mine is distinctly out of date now. I studied Poetics in Uni but really should revise them again, thanks for reminding me 🙂

  3. Have you discovered Oh Where Oh Where is Kippers bear by Mick Inkpen? It’s a pop up hardback book. It was my Favourite when my kiddies were younger. So I just read it to myself these days!! A real must though, I can assure you you’ll love it.
