September has been a busy month, what with Caius being away working and sailing and Tori starting school (and Arthur starting pre-school) so it is a small miracle I have read anything at all!
But read (and listen) I have and here is what I managed:
The Desert Spear (Demon Cycle #2) by Peter V. Brett, 5/5*: I started listening to this book within hours of the first one finishing, I was so desperate to know what happened next. I found it a little hard to get into because the perspective changed and timeline flashed back to fill in background for the main enemy in Book #1 but I soon fell back into the rythm of it and enjoyed it almost as much as the first. With epic battles and deception and a land that highlighted just how cruel and brutal we humans can be to each other and yet also showed how strong and kind we can be all in the same novel. Clever and enchanting but more than a little blood-thirsty, Brett’s writing has definitely rekindled my love for the epic fantasy genre.
Arthur Pong and his Smelly Song by Jose Fernandez, 3/5*: Full review here
Emerald (Pale Blue Dot #1) by Rosemary Smith, 5/5*: Full review here

All of this puts me at 53/75 books read in 2013. Getting there!!
