Top 5 Friday!

A family effort this week to make the list of OUR TOP 5 BOOKS WITH CATS IN!

We like cats.

We like books.

Books with cats are extra good!

So here are our Top 5 in no particular order:

5. The Lighthouse Keeper’s Cat by Randa & David Armitage

Caius’ choice up first – when I randomly sprung the ‘what’s your favourite book with a cat in?’ question on him over the dinner table one evening, this was his immediate answer. He even remembered the cat was called Hamish! The lighthouse keeper didn’t just have lunch, it turns out he also had a cat!

4. Mog by Judith Kerr
Tori picked Mog but we all love her. I was SO SAD when Goodbye Mog came out (my Mum bought me a hardback copy!) – we like the Mog books because she is funny and silly and clumsy. We even have a cuddly Mog sat on a bookshelf in our front room. (I say ‘we’ but she’s totally mine and I will fight for ownership…)
3. Six Dinner Sid by Inga Moore

Another classic that we love even more after having our own Six Dinner Sid-style visitor at our old house. Our NotMyCat, Felix who used to drop in for cuddles and cat biscuits whenever he felt like it! We miss him a bit.

 2. The Silent Miaow by Paul Gallico

My pick – because not all cat books are for kids. This is the story of a stray cat who adopted some humans, all dutifully translated from the feline by the aforementioned human. It is perfection.

1. Slinki Malinki by Lynley Dodd

Hairy Maclary’s cat counterpart, we adore the Lynley Dodd books and Slinki Malinki is no exception. We quite often read these ones twice at bed time.

Have we missed your favourite cat book off our list? Please tell us if we have so we can expand our collection!

Please leave a comment, I'd love to hear what you think :)
