Liberty pointed me in the direction of this a few days ago, and I have decided to give it a go. I make no promises but I’d love it if I could do it.
The 80k in 80 Days Challenge is simple (haha) – write 80,000 words in 80 days, starting from the 1st May. Why 80k? Because that’s the standard accepted length for a ‘proper’ novel. Why 80 days? Because it sounds good probably! Well, that and 1000 words a day average should be do-able for most people.
I have a vague idea of what I’d like to write – I’ve decided to start something new rather than carry on with a WIP (don’t worry though, Mum/Liberty – I will carry on with the other one too. Eventually. Promise!). So fingers crossed, come the 11th July, I will have an 80,000 word long first draft of a novel under my belt. Or that’s the idea anyway.
Feel like joining in? Go have a look at the website and check out the rules – you don’t have to be a blogger to do it and there’s no prizes at the end apart from a massive feeling of achievement and success!
Good Luck!!!
Oh God there’s no way I could do that xxx
Good for you! I finally completed NaNoWriMo a couple of years back which was 50k in 1 month. Never did anything with it though. Really must dust it off and read it one of these days. I’m excited for you already! Are you going to post each day online for us to read????
…actually scratch that last comment I’ve just read that ‘anything published online nowadays is often considered published for the purposes of publishers and agents so you may be spoiling your chance’ so DON’T do it!
Lol – I could email it to you weekly if you wanted? You could be my proof reader and laugh at my inevitable typos/stupidly long sentences XD
