My starsign is Cancer so I have always had a bit of a soft spot for crabs – despite the fact that they are actually kind of creepy. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes (the enormous ones are quite frankly terrifying) and they are pretty fascinating.
So here are MY TOP 5 TYPES OF CRAB.
Yep, these guys are on the list mostly because they are blue. And I like blue.
They’re also pretty cool because their back legs have evolved into giant swimming paddles.
Super pretty, mega-jumping crabs that I basically only know exist because of David Attenborough. I only know a lot of things exist because of him actually.
Basically living fossils but they look like sci-fi spaceships. Horseshoe Crabs are the cool kind of weird.
These are enormous but they are spectacular and oddly attractive. I don’t think I want to meet one in real life though, bit too big for me.
1. Hermit Crabs!
Yes, yes, they aren’t ‘true’ crabs and there are lots and lots of species but… they’re my favourite because they’re the cutest.
And you can race them.
My favourite species is probably the Halloween Hermit Crab, if you forced me to choose.
